Black Night

The first rays of the Sun

Fell on the pupil

And I became handsome

The final rays of the evening

Fell on my heart

And I became happy

The light in the night

Fell on my entire body

And I became black.

Sad Night

My grandmothers lullaby

Was like the mustard flowers

Who would sing a lullaby tonight

So that I can sleep

This night belongs to the city

This night belongs to the hotel

I miss Granny’s lap

Its rainy season

My legs are not muddy

I was happy with the smell of the mud

Stuck at the bottom of my shoes.

And I slept with eyes open.

I remembered my village

The east had black soil

The west had sand soil

The north had red soil

The south was a mixture of all these

And my grandmother

She had the strength of all these soil.
