The street Singer

Poem 1

The street Singer

He sings songs of Life
With notes of truths to embellish

He chants truths of Life
With tunes of veracities to adorn

He warbles challenges of Life
With the dark realities to titivate

He carols the ebb and tide of Life
With stark realism to embroider

He is yet to come today
with his definition of Love
He will unfurl the mystery surely
For,
He hears the notes of Life
He plays the tunes of suffering

In the cocoon of Hate
He finds invincible Love

He distinguishes pain and pleasure
He experiences contentment in nothingness

He will sing in agony and appraisal
He will recite in anguish and pleasure

He is yet to come today!

Poem 2

The Rangoli Vendor

She sells Colours , a rupee a colour
She has all of them in one basket
Like a descended rainbow around her
Discrimination of colours doesn’t happen
**
She is elated to see her colours
At several door steps – a silent invitation
develops her own philosophy
‘Life is full of Colours’
***
The basket of colours is never a burden for her
It is lighter than LIFE
She matures into a better philosopher
As she treads down the trail of Life
****
She tells herself often as she walks
Seeking the attention of the customers
“My Life is full of colours
I need to sell all of them”
****
A fellow lady asks for her favourite colour
She quietly lifts her basket
Says “Single shade doesn’t determine my life”
She is a full grown Philosopher now

(This is the poem which won Rabindranath Tagore International Award recently)

    • Sarma garu I profusely thank you for your valuable feedback on my scribblings. Wish to see more from you in times to come. Regards, Vasudev

  • Hmm two poems , one poet ,so definitely a reader will search for a single soul with two different shades in both of ’em. Though I kept picturising both charecters, Street singer actually captivated me for a while. He is universal. Where as when it comes to the lady of colours , she is actually selling me the pathetic old hopeless world which infact has got the tint of sadness all over the place ,may be that is why she dint have my vote.sorry .If we talk about the philosophies behind both of em then he is full of roller coaster rides and she went down hill .

You are a seasoned writer sir , but at times you got to let go of yourself once in a while:)

    Nisheedhi !

    • Thank you Nisheedhi garu for your patient & critical analysis of both the poems. May be you are right as a reader and I do appreciate your understanding of the poems.

  • A brilliant rendition.. when a poet involves in the socio structure , then, passionate phenomena of society will reflect in his poems..Exactly you achieved the content visualisation…Kudos anna..

    Two poems are too good..

  • The street singer
    The rangoli vendor
Both the poems are good and sensible.

    • Thank you mam! You have been an ardent reader and Im quite happy that we have a reader like you who sincerely reads and encourages.
