About women and brave hearts!

#1 Book Name: Dotting The Blemish And Other Stories

Author: Sunitha Lal

Genre: Fiction

Rating: 5/5

Introduction to the book:

This book by author Sunitha Lal is an anthology of stories that span over 100 pages and the stories that belong to different generations. The book covers the eras of Indian History and focuses on the inequalities women have been facing since ages.

My Review:

This is one of those books that will teach, educate, provoke, tempt, soothe, console and poke one’s mind for betterment. This was my immediate reflex after reading the last page of the book. The readers get to experience the flavour, tone, and emotional turmoil that women faced and face in the three eras’ chronological manner.

The stories are written in the colloquial language that is accessible to every reader. There are some locally used words for which a specific meaning and explanation is provided at the end of the book. This eases the reading flow. The characterization of the female protagonists is crafted excellently. Every female character in each story of this book reflects many women in society. The nuances and intrinsic details either about the character or the story setting or the emotional quotient in the book, are worth mentioning. Here, I must applaud author Sunitha Lal for her excellent storytelling skills. Her knowledge of women – how, where and when reflects in the storytelling.

Book Name: 26/11 BraveHeart: My Encounter with Terrorists That Night

Author: Praveen Kumar Teotia

Genre: Non-Fiction

Rating: 5/5

Introduction to the book:

This book by author Praveen Kumar Teotia is a memoir of himself. The book is a real-life account of a MARCOS commando, who is instrumental in saving many lives during the 26/11 terror attack in the Mumbai city. This is a powerfully written memoir. Praveen Kumar Teotia has poured his heart out in this book on his experience in fighting against the terrorists.

My review:

There are many incidents shared by Praveen in the book , whom we call now a brave heart was the person responsible who saved our lives is ill-treated in this manner! My thoughts were running so errand that I just had to clench my fists. Ironically, we give our fellow people lectures on soldiers and their lives, but we dare not accept reality.

The book is written in simple and straightforward English language; it is accessible to the reader of any age. There are some technical terms mentioned in the book that are usually sued by the Marine commandoes. Also, one of the book’s highlights is if there comes the point where a more in-depth insight into the topic is vital, author Praveen has taken extreme pains in explaining.

Finally, this book explains the pain and suffering a soldier undergoes after getting hurt while fighting for the country. The flaws and the drawbacks of our country’s security measures before 2016 are explained well in the book. Thus, this book is a wounded soldier’s travel to a successful motivational speaker after facing innumerable hurdles and is a recommended inspiring read!
