Three Poems by Haritha Maddali

1.

Like the waves,
I strive to erase all troubles on my surface
Just to look beautiful
Yet beneath the surface
Things get sedimented
And will never dissolve away!
2
When I close my eyes,
It feels like a rollercoaster,
Rushing somewhere with no destination,
Overwhelmed by thousands of hunches.
The harder I push myself to fall asleep,
The harder it becomes to fall.
A feeling of being submerged under a dark ocean—
Will I ever get out of it?
But somehow, I love being an insomniac,
Finding peace in silence.
Yet I’m afraid I’m getting used to it,
Afraid of being abnormal, maybe.
3.
Our mind is so evil!
It wants to destroy everything.
And heart is so stupid,
It never listens to mind.
I’m Haritha Maddali, a B.Tech second-year student with a deep love for poetry. I began writing in 2022, and since then, it has become more than just a hobby—it’s my way of expressing emotions that are often hard to speak out loud. Poetry helps me turn my thoughts, feelings, and experiences into something beautiful and meaningful. Whether I’m happy, overwhelmed, or simply lost in a moment, I find comfort in writing. Every poem I create holds a part of me—my heart, my memories, my dreams. I believe words have the power to heal, connect, and inspire. Through my poems, I hope others can feel seen and understood too. Writing gives me a quiet strength, and with each piece, I grow a little more. For me, poetry isn’t just about rhyme or rhythm—it’s about expressing the soul in the simplest, most honest way.
